PODIATRIST OR PODOLOGIST?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

What is the difference between a podiatrist and a podologist?

Podiatry is the highest level of formal education available to paramedics in foot care, granting a legally recognized and protected title by the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport.

The podiatrist, along with fifteen other healthcare professionals, is regulated under the Individual Healthcare Professions Act BIG (wet op de beroepen in de individuele gezondheidszorg). Additionally, podiatrists have earned a Bachelor’s degree after completing a four-year higher education program.

The titles podologist, registered podologist, podopostural therapist, and podokinesiologist do not have legal recognitions or protections.
